Kirill Filimonov is a PhD candidate at Uppsala University, Sweden. His doctoral project explores the performance of participation in left-wing alternative media in Russia, France, and the United Kingdom from a poststructuralist and discourse-theoretical perspective. His research interests include political communication, media studies, democratic theory, gender studies, and identity politics. Moscow-born and having a background in political journalism, Kirill has collaborated with a number of counter-hegemonic media outlets in Russia.
